Powerful P.E

Intent

At Whitestone we encourage all our children to be active and have positive attitudes towards physical activity. We enjoy PE Lessons and sport both within the curriculum and during before and after school clubs and lunchtime activities.

Our PE and school sports promote teamwork, fair play and health and fitness in a fun and safe environment, where all children are challenged and motivated to enjoy and achieve.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide high quality physical education and school sport through personal challenge and competition that will lead to life long participation and enjoyment. At Whitestone we recognise the importance that PE plays in the curriculum and are committed to providing all children with opportunities to engage fully in PE.

PE at Whitestone provides challenging and enjoyable learning through a range of sporting activities including invasion games, net and wall games, strike and field games, gymnastics and dance.

The PE curriculum is taught through the PE Hub which ensures that the requirements of the National Curriculum are fully met. In addition the children are encouraged to participate in the range of extra-curricular activities and after school sport clubs.

Curriculum expectations

By the end of each key stage, children are expected to:

' I love PE because I can learn lots of skills, like ball skills. I am now a good catcher, but I can also throw and roll. I would like to play basketball when I am older because PE is so fun!'
