Our Art curriculum at Whitestone Infant School will allow children to express themselves no matter their academic abilities. The children will be given the opportunity to explore a range of artistic techniques and movements using a wide range of tools and media. They will discover both past and present artists and the impact their artwork has had on society. The artwork will be linked creatively to the topics being explored in each year group as well as some individual explorations.
Here at Whitestone we are firm believers that children should be given a broad and rich curriculum. We know that children's strengths lie in different subjects and that they should be given the opportunity to encounter these as much as possible, especially in the early years. Art is a particular subject that children feel comfortable taking part in as there is no right or wrong answer. Through art, we want our children to develop a questioning mind where they can confidently engage in creativity and explore, invent and make their own works of art. Our pupils will develop their artistic skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printing, collage, textiles and digital art.
Here are some of the artists the children will explore whilst here at Whitestone Infant School...

Many of our staff are passionate about art, but Mrs King brings passion and skill together in her fantastic Art Club. The children get to experience art away from the curriculum and in a smaller group setting in the after-school club. The main focus is around drawing and painting with the chance for free exploration at the end of a session. Please contact the school office for more information.
