Fantastic Farm Fun!

On week beginning 26th September all three Year 1 classes enjoyed a trip to Mount Pleasant Farm on the outskirts of Birmingham. The farm is a great place to learn as it is a working dairy farm where the children got to see how the milk gets from the 200 milking cows into Tesco shops all around the midlands.

Lots of fun was had when the children were able to collect eggs and feed the chickens, meet Pinky and Perky the pigs and feed the sheep that live on the farm. Miss Hatch (the farm's teacher) discussed whether each animal was a herbivore, omnivore and carnivore and the type of animal that they were e.g. mammal or bird.

The children were lucky to meet different breeds of cow as well as meet calves that were only a few weeks old. They watched a video of Mr Charles (The farmer) milking the cows with special machinery and saw the truck that took the milk away to be prepared for the shops.

All of the children had a wonderful day and learnt so much.
